Danielle Coenga-Oliveira is a Ph.D student in political science and feminist studies at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM). She holds a Master's degree in International Studies (Université de Montréal) and a Master's degree in Social Psychology (University of Brasilia). Her master's work focused respectively on homophobia in Brazil and on the integration of sexual orientation and gender identity in international cooperation programmes. Her doctoral thesis, as a Joseph-Armand Bombardier SSHRC fellow, will examine anti-gender discourses within the Brazilian state and, specifically, the impact of these discourses on women's full citizenship. 
Since 2008, she has been working as a consultant on research, gender equality and LGBTQI+ issues from a feminist perspective for international organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and non-governmental organizations in Brazil and Canada.
