Annabelle Dias Felix is a Ph.D student in Political Science at l’Université de Montréal and her research looks at public security programs in Latin America. She is particularly interested in community policing programs in democracies and in her doctoral thesis proposes an intra and international comparison of two so-called ‘democratic’ community policing programs in Ro de Janeiro (Brazil), Mexico City and Nezahualcoyoti (Mexico). In 2014, she obtained her Master’s degree in Latin American studies (Political Science – research path) at the Institut des Hautes Études sur l’Amérique latine (IHEAL - Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle) and wrote a dissertation entitled ‘The Politics of public security and peacekeeping units in Rio de Janeiro: social practices and representations among the Mangueria military police’, under the supervision of Professor Camille Goirand.

Since 2015, Annabelle has been an active member of several research centres and groups including: réseau d’études latino-américaines à Montréal (RÉLAM), du centre de recherche sur les politiques et le développement social (CPDS), du centre d’études et de recherches internationales de l’UdeM (CÉRIUM) et enfin, de l’équipe de recherche sur l’inclusion et la gouvernance en Amérique latine (ÉRIGAL).
